CHLOË AND HARMONY '94 by Kevin Hatt

Studio portraits of the couple taken shortly before their roles in Larry Clark’s generation-defining movie, Kids, was released in 1995.

The photographer, Kevin Hatt, known for his studio portraiture and as the publisher of the short-lived photography journal Kit and Caboodle, had first met Chloë in Washington Square and then Harmony a few months later. 'It’s funny, I met so many creative people in that Little Italy neighbourhood. I used to see Chloë, on occasion, when she was working around the corner from our place on Lafayette Street at a store called Liquid Sky – I would pass by the store and say hi. One day we made a date to do a portrait. I was working out of a studio close by on Spring Street, it was very convenient. Chloë came to the studio and said Harmony was going to stop by.'
