Ilford & Paterson Film Processing Starter Kit

    , ,
This starter kit from Ilford and Paterson contains everything needed to process your first rolls of black and white film. From a developer, stop bath, fixer and wetting agent to the perfect sized developing tank and measuring cylinders for processing two rolls of 35mm film at a time (or one 120 roll). We do recommend also adding a Paterson change bag. Although this can be substituted by a darkroom or a totally dark space in a cupboard or under a doona! The technique to process your own film is simple and rewarding and made even easier thanks to Ilford Simplicity chemicals which are pre-measured for speed and ease of use. While these chemicals can easily be used in most developing tanks the measurements were based on the Paterson 2-reel Universal Film Development Tank contained in this kit making it the ideal pairing. The kit contains: 1 x Ilford 35mm Film Cassette Opener 1 x ILFORD Simplicity Film Starter Pack (containing developer, stop bath, fixer and wetting agent chemicals) 1 x Paterson Universal Film Tank, 2 x Paterson Super System 4 Reels 3 x Paterson 600ml Graduates 1 x Paterson 12" Thermometer 1 x Paterson Stirrer 2 x pairs of Paterson 2 film clips. After development we recommend that films and papers are rinsed in an acid stop bath to stop development immediately and neutralise the developer to help maintain the activity of the fixer bath. Ilfostop helps to maintain the activity and prolong the life of the fixer solution by reducing carry over of excess developer (alkaline) into the fixer bath (acidic).

    CineStill Cs2 ECN-2 Processing Chemicals

After years of research & development, CineStill has now formulated the only safe and consistent way to process stills with the same characteristics Hollywood expects, from the comfort of your home with the Cs2 “Cine Simplified” ECN 2-Bath Kit.  For those who wish to dabble in the motion picture workflow CineStill have formulated some original at-home solutions, which are accurate to Eastman Kodak sensitometric standards. This 2-bath process simplifies the original 10+ step ECN-2 process, with uncompromised quality and accurate characteristic curves, while making it safe and foolproof for at-home use. Any motion or still photography film can be processed in this simplified 2-bath powder kit, resulting in a low-contrast color negative that is suitable for the motion picture workflow and scanning. CineStill's Cn2 “COLOR NEGATIVE” developer is combined with the prebath accelerant (which kicks off development) to produce proper ECN-2 density. The bleach and fixer baths are combined with the stop and wash baths in our single Bf2 “BLEACH&FIX+STOP” bath, to reduce risks to health & safety and processing defects caused from hazardous chemical carryover. After a final washing of your film you will have CineStill negatives matching Kodak’s characteristic curves for proper motion picture processing. It may be a less complicated process than ECN-2, but Cs2 is actually more advanced chemistry, utilizing chemical compounds and technology which didn’t exist when ECN-2 was originally designed. ECN-2 was formulated around the mid-1970s, with the available technology of the day. Even though CineStill's Cs2 kit is simplified and safer, they didn’t skip or compromise any of the designed functions of the ECN-2 process. Whether it be with the color developing agents or the combined baths, CineStill don’t settle for incomplete formulas that omit essential active components (e.g. Antifoggant to prevent base-fog buildup, Anti-Calcium to prevent precipitate and contamination, Ammonium Thiosulfate to fully clear silver and dyes, Development Stop to prevent color staining, etc). Proper ECN-2 negatives. No compromises. No BS. CineStill's got you covered. * Not intend for RA-4 chromogenic printing. * If rem-jet is present, it can be manually removed under running water, after development.

CineStill D96 B&W Motion Picture Developer Powder Concentrate

Sophisticated developing with motion picture quality. The D96 formula is trusted by cinematographers and motion picture labs due its dynamic S-curve contrast and forgiving highlight control. For the first time ever, available in accessible powder format! Cinestill's formula develops 16 rolls or 100ft of 16/35mm film. Just add water! The D96 formula is the specified developer for classic b&w motion picture stocks such as BwXX (Double-X), Ferrania P30, Lomography (Orwo), etc... It also works great with modern T-grain films in addition to traditional film stocks. Processing times for D96 should start around 6-8 min and may be found at massive development chart at www.digitaltruth.com. Finish processing your film in under ten minutes when you also use our F96 Rapid Fixer powder! D96 is comparable to Kodak D-76, with similar contrast and developing times for most black and white films. They share a motion picture film processing pedigree, with D-76 having been formulated in 1926 as a motion picture film developer. Later on, Kodak made certain adjustments to the chemistry and released D96. To this day, D96 serves as the primary black and white developer used in the motion picture industry.
